Lapbooks are elaborate, hand-crafted learning tools, approximately the size of a laptop, thus the name lapbook.
Each lapbook is about a specific topic children love and want to know more about, such as frogs, bees, trees, Leonardo da Vinci, Jane Goodall, rockets, and airplanes.
During the crafting process, children effortlessly memorize the many interesting facts and information presented in the lapbook. Here is what 12-year-old Paul, who was homeschooled for middle school in Italy, says about lapbooking:
βI feel very confident doing the (high school) entrance exam because I prepared with lapbooks. Iβm not scared of the test because I remember everything I wrote into those little windows on my various lapbooks. Itβs impossible to lose my train of thought because everything has its logical order. In fact, I am excited to do this test now to show what I know! A lapbook is a fantastic thing!"
Lapbooking is also a great way for children and adults to experience the flow state of optimal learning together.Β
